Healthcare Heroes fundraising goal reached in THREE DAYS!
The COVID-19 crisis is far from over. Doctors and nurses continue to work long, difficult shifts under dangerous conditions, and the vast majority of these essential health care workers—nearly 77%—are women. Women make up nearly 9 out of 10 nurses and nursing assistants, and most respiratory therapists, putting them at the front lines of the current crisis.
To demonstrate our gratitude to these essential caretakers, the Women4Change Board provided comfort-food dinners to the ER staff at Eskenazi Health Center at the beginning of May. We partnered with Jacquie’s, a local, female-owned catering company that generously agreed to provide meals at a reduced cost. We were thrilled to be able to support the restaurant industry, as well; more than half the restaurants in the U.S. are owned by women, and due to restaurant closures, their incomes have been dramatically reduced during this crisis.
We reached out to the Hoosier community to fundraise $500 for another round of meals—and, thanks to your help, we met our fundraising goal within THREE DAYS! We are so excited to continue providing this tangible token of our gratitude to the essential health care workers keeping Indiana safe.
