Women4Change Indiana’s Statement on the Events on the House Floor

Women4Change was founded four years ago after women statewide rallied together around the lack of civility seen in the political sector. Today, the state of Indiana has seen yet another political encounter lacking respect, this time in the Center of our State Government. What is even more disappointing are the persons being disrespected and shouted down.

Black voices are too often muffled and overlooked. We at Women4Change must speak out when we see these instances happening. We must emphasize the importance of hearing Black and other diverse voices. 

We hold our elected officials to a higher standard, one that reinforces the principles of democracy that strives for respectful disagreement of policy issues. For our government to serve all Hoosiers, we must ensure that all voices are heard.
