13 years of gerrymandering in Indiana forces Hoosier voters to ask if their vote counts

“An analysis of this redistricting process by George Washington University professor Christopher Warshaw, commissioned by Women4Change Indiana a decade after the fact, found that the maps have resulted in significantly more "wasted" Democratic votes in Indiana than Republican ones. The 2021 redistricting retained Republicans' advantage in the Statehouse and Congressional districts. "There is some validity when they feel like their vote doesn’t count," Angie Carr-Klitzsch, CEO, Women4Change Indiana.

The only way to change and improve the composition of Indiana’s legislature and districts tomorrow, is for all eligible Hoosier voters to vote, today.

It’s that simple.

With headlines like these, we know we have to fight even harder for Hoosier women and to preserve free and fair access to the ballot in 2024.

REMEMBERING LILLY LEDBETTER

Lilly Ledbetter, civil rights activist and equal pay pioneer has died at the age of 86. In a 2007, 5-4 ruling, she did not win her Supreme Court case, but she won the hearts and minds of women and American to fight until they DO win.

In response, former President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law in 2009, making it easier for women to challenge unequal pay and bolster worker protections against pay discrimination.

Rest in power, Lilly Ledbetter.
