February 28th: Here’s what happened at the Indiana Statehouse this week
This was the seventh full week of the Indiana General Assembly 2020 session.
The 2020 Indiana General Assembly session will soon come to a close. Bills in both the House and the Senate had to pass in their committees by Thursday, February 27th. Next Tuesday, March 3rd marks the deadline for bills to pass in their chambers. Legislators expect to adjourn the 2020 session by Wednesday, March 11th.
Bill Updates
Senate Bill 146, Sexual assault victims’ rights
The House Courts and Criminal Code committee held a hearing on Thursday, February 27th. The committee voted to pass the bill.
W4C supports this bill.
Senate Bill 299, Fetal remains
The Senate held a second reading of SB 299 on Monday, February 24th. The bill was amended and ordered engrossed. There was also a third reading on Thursday, February 27th. The bill passed.
W4C does not support this bill.

Please RSVP for this noon event! We want to keep track of the number of attendees so that we can accommodate everyone.
We want legislators to face the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault in Indiana. We will exhibit the Clothesline project, a moving display of survivors’ stories, in the Statehouse.
