EVENT RECAP: COVID-19 + Gender Inequity

Today, we were honored to premiere a Women4Change-exclusive lecture on the gendered impacts of COVID-19 from Dr. Laura Merrifield Wilson, assistant professor of Political Science at UIndy. Dr. Wilson:

  • Examined the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on women’s physical, mental, and economic health

  • Discussed the greater risk of domestic violence and child abuse sparked by stay-at-home mandates and shelter closures

  • Highlighted the unexpected economic challenges that women, particularly women of color, have faced

  • Explored potential policy options for mitigating the negative effects of the pandemic on daily life
