April 5th: Here's what happened this week at the Indiana Statehouse

As the fourteenth full week of the 2019 legislative session comes to an end, Women4Change continues to be YOUR eyes and ears in the Indiana Statehouse.

A big thank you to our members for continuing to our work at the Statehouse. We had Women4Change members sending a clear message to our lawmakers through the following activity:

  • Hate Crimes Press Conference

Bills that moved this week:

  • HB 1211 (‘Abortion matters’) Returned to the House without amendments, so we are waiting for a motion to concur to be filed.

  • SB201 (‘Health Provider Ethical Exemption’) Senate concurred in House amendments, so it should be appearing on the Governor’s desk here soon.

  • SB 192 (‘Nonconsensual pornography’) Returned to the Senate without amendments, so we are waiting for a motion to concur to be filed.

  • SB243 (‘Nonconsensual pornography’) Amendment #1 (Speedy) prevailed. This amendment takes out language that protects a victim if the intimate images were dispersed with “intent to (A) harm)”.

  • HB 1547 (‘Consent to pregnancy services of a minor’) Returned to the House with amendments, so we are waiting for a motion to concur to be filed.

  • HB1651 (‘Judicial evaluation of dangerous individuals and firearms’) Pursuant to Senate Rule 68(b); reassigned to Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy

  • SB198 (‘Sentencing’) was signed by the Governor, without gender, gender identity, and age in the bill.

If you can not attend a meeting at the Statehouse during the legislative session consider attending these town hall meetings.
