El Tendedero/The Clothesline Indiana: Homage & Celebration

Gallery 924, in partnership with Women 4 Change Indiana, welcomes you to
El Tendedero/The Clothesline Indiana: Homage & Celebration. The new exhibition transforms a symbol of traditional feminine roles into forums for conversation on violence against women and recognizes the advocacy work of women and organizations in central Indiana. It's inspired by the work of Mexican feminist artist Mónica Mayer.

El Tendedero/The Clothesline Indiana: Homage & Celebration opens with a socially distanced reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. You can also tour the exhibition virtually and see additional video content at www.indyarts.org beginning Friday.

See the works of three Indianapolis-based artists: Darlene Delbecq, Beatriz Vásquez, and Samantha Veach. Veach, a photographer at Newfields, documented a year of art and activism as Women 4 Change Indiana traveled the state to host events and inspire discussion and introspection into the pervasive issue of sexual harassment and violence against women and girls. Delbecq will share a series of portraits of artist Mónica Mayer and new conceptual work around women's bodily autonomy. Vásquez has created a large-scale papel picado-inspired installation that explores the collective impact of multiple voices all sounding the alarm against the long history of violence against women along the border.

Proceeds from sales of artwork work benefit the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault.
